Back in the summer, we were saddened to announce the death of Old Suttonian Ian Kay (1941 M). It has long been our intention to recognise his contribution to the School and Old Suttonian community by way of a memorial on site. It has been decided that this will take the form of a new tree, to be planted below Prefects' Lawn. We will mark the tree's planting with a short ceremony on Saturday 11th December.
Ian was one of the most enthusiastic and engaged of Old Suttonians that the School has known. Retaining a link to SVS for some 70 years, he has served the Old Suttonian community in countless ways, whether on the sports field, at the Committee table or by representing the OS at School functions. Ian was a truly remarkable man who will be missed by all who knew him and with that in mind, we wanted to create a permanent reminder of him at the School.
We are therefore pleased to be able to extend an invitation to all Old Suttonians and SVS community members to attend the tree planting, which is due to start at 1.00pm that day, followed by a reception on the Headmaster’s Lawn. We hope as many of you as possible are able to attend to celebrate Ian’s life and the contribution he made to the SVS community.
Whilst the event is open to all, we would ask that you RSVP via the registration link below, to allow us to plan accordingly.
