As our final event for the 2021/22 academic year, we are delighted to announce the return of the Old Suttonians versus School Cricket match, this year taking place on Thursday 7th July 2022 (11.30am start). Having not played the fixture for the past five years, we are hoping for a fantastic game to end of the School's Cricket season in style.
When the match was last played back in 2017, the Old Suttonian team batted first and amassed an impressive total of 273-4. In response, the School's 1st XI fought hard against a strong OS bowling attack that included current West Indies international Hayden Walsh (2009 H). Some dogged defence and fading light saw the OS fail to take the tenth wicket, with the School finishing on 159-9. That year saw the inaugural presentation of the Bunker Cup, in memory of OS Cricket stalwart David Bunker (1954 M) and, given his involvement with both the School and OS, it was fitting that the match ended in a draw.
As we look ahead to this year's fixture, we hope for a similarly competitive encounter, with the added incentive for the winning team of becoming the first victors of the Bunker Cup. If you would like to play in the match, please register your interest through the OS Cricket Facebook Group, or get in touch with either the Development Office or the OS Match Manager - Chris Vernon (2010 H). As ever, we would welcome OS attendance on the day - please do come along to Upper to support.
