The annual reunion luncheon for Sutton Valence leavers from 1940 to 1965 was held at the Royal Air Force Club in Picadilly on Tuesday 7th March. This lunch was recently renamed as the Ian Kay luncheon, in memory of Ian Kay (1941 M) who organised the event for over 25 years. The luncheon has a rich history and dates back to the mid-1990s, when Michael Soloman (1945 W) and Michael Hovey (1946 W) arranged to meet a few friends who had been with them in Westminster in the 1940s. Originally the venue changed from year to year, although recently it has remained at the Royal Air Force Club, kindly sponsored by Rupert Humphrey (1979 L).

In 2018 the decision was taken to extend the invitation to leavers from the 1950s and this year we extended it further to those leaving up to 1965. The luncheon was well attended, with over 25 guests, who were treated to a fantastic meal in the impressive surroundings of the Royal Air Force Club's Presidents' Room. The room buzzed with lively discussions and laughter, as some OS met up with contemporaries they have not seen since they were at School, and others met up with familiar faces. The luncheon was followed by the traditional toasts and a brief talk by David Pickard (Staff 1977-2001, 2009-2015), the SVS Foundation Archivist, which raised more than a few smiles. The next luncheon will be hosted on Tuesday 5th March 2024.
