The third annual SVS Foundation Quiz Night took place on Friday 3rd May. We ended up with over 210 guests attending on the night, which meant that this was the third consecutive year that the event has sold out. We are hugely grateful for your continued support.
Our fantastic quizmaster, David Gilman, certainly went out with a bang and we are appreciative for all that he did to make the event such a success. As usual, his mix of general knowledge, quirky rounds and newsreader introductions were a real hit, and the unforgettable film clips round was possibly his best yet – a big thank you to all of the staff involved. We are so grateful to David, and his wife Emma, for giving up so much of their time to prepare and host such an amazing evening. In terms of the quiz itself, congratulations go to ‘No Value Added’ who were frontrunners throughout and worthy winners in the end.
As mentioned on the night, our thanks also go to our amazing Second Form Junior Leadership team, tirelessly managed by Mrs Allman and Miss Gray, for all that they did throughout the evening and for their help preparing the raffle and table decorations. We would also like to thank our Sixth Form markers, our photographers (Miss Peart-Price and Elyse R), Mrs Aitken for the floristry, Mrs Browning and Mrs Farrell for their help with the setup, and the bar team (Mrs Harris, Mrs Kube-Clare, Mrs Porter, Miss Sagrott and the Headmaster). As ever, the cheese, pâté and chutney selection was another highlight and our thanks go to Mr Devine and his catering team for all of their work behind the scenes. A final thank you to everyone who supported and provided prizes for the raffle.
We are still working out the final profit from the event, but we anticipate that the evening raised over £3800 for Dandelion Time, which is a fantastic total. Across the three quizzes that David has hosted, our charitable total has now exceeded £8500 for Sepsis Research FEAT, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and Dandelion Time.
