Last night saw the first meeting this academic year of the SVS Foundation Council, as well as an opportunity for both the Council and the OS Committee to meet Mr Thomas. The SVS Foundation Council is the executive body overseeing both the Old Suttonian engagement programme and the Friends of SVS programme for parents and past parents. After a fruitful discussion, a number of proposals were made about events and plans for the year ahead, which we will announce in due course.
As well as Mr Thomas’ introduction, the Council also welcomed Old Suttonian Clive Baxter (1978 F) as the new Governor Representative and Mrs Porter as the new Staff Representative. Mrs Porter’s involvement, in line with her role as the School’s Community Engagement Coordinator, is hoped to facilitate a more consentient approach to charitable fundraising and community initiatives, bringing together the School’s own outreach work with the engagement activities of the SVS Foundation.
The meeting concluded with a drinks event on the Headmaster’s Lawn and a chance for the various representatives on both the Council and OS Committee to catch up. As we slowly emerge from the restrictions of the last 18 months, there is a renewed optimism and enthusiasm for delivering an engaging programme of community events going forward.
As a side note, there remains vacancies on the Friends of SVS Committee (for parents and past parents) as well as a single vacancy on the OS Committee. If you are interested in getting involved with either, please email Will Radford, Director of External Relations at development@svs.org.uk.
