Recent leaver Dylan Collie (2021 F) is setting himself the challenge of running five kilometres every day for the next year in order to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The charity is close to his heart as his mum has battled cancer twice within the space of 12 years. She is very much his inspiration, as he explains “working with the NHS, as a teacher and as a full-time mum to three kids, she never let cancer hold her back. Watching her take on these challenges and conquering every one of them has inspired me to challenge myself for her and for all those who suffer or have suffered with cancer. As much as I gain my inspiration from my mum, it isn’t only her who inspires me. Having experienced the effects that it has on loved ones and those around the suffering individual, I know the impact cancer can have on everyone involved."

Dylan started his challenge with his first 5k at Silverstone last Sunday (as pictured above). He has set a fundraising target at £1000, of which he has already amassed £750. With Old Suttonian support, we hope to be able to contribute towards that target and if you would like to sponsor him, please do so at https://www.gofundme.com/f/dylans-365-5km-run.

As well as donating, there are other ways to support him too and he would welcome any fellow runners to join him on his daily challenge. As such, if you fancy joining him (either in person or via a link up in Strava) then please get in touch with the Development Office who can then share Dylan's contact details.

We wish you all the best with this huge challenge, Dylan! We will keep you posted with his progress over the course of the year.
