As many of you know, Old Suttonian Tom Lazarides (2018 C), suffered a life-changing C5 spinal compression injury after an accident in the summer of 2020. Tom was an extremely popular and sporty pupil at SVS and since the accident, his friends, family and members of the School community have continuously raised funds to give him the best possible chance of recovering his mobility and regaining his independence. As Tom’s progress has been limited, his parents are now looking at providing him with robotic hands (a hugely costly piece of equipment) in order to give Tom some independence.
On Sunday 3rd April, his friend and fellow Old Suttonian, Will Bryant (2018 M) is taking part in the Ironman 70.3 Triathlon, in Galveston, Texas, to raise funds for Tom’s treatment. This will involve a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile cycle, and a 13.1-mile run. Will has set up a Go Fund Me page and would be very grateful for any sponsorship you can offer, however small. As Will says on his funding page, “If you know Tom personally, you will agree he is one of the most kind and selfless human beings you have probably ever met and he is a true friend to everyone who has the privilege of calling him such”.
All the very best with the training and the triathlon Will, the School community will be rooting for you!
