William "Bill" Fulljames (1956 W), who sadly died in 2021, has been celebrated recently on his home island of Ibiza. Following his time at Sutton Valence School where he was introduced to the two great loves of his life; jazz and art, he settled on the beautiful island of Ibiza and became a well-known artist and sculptor. On 6th October, over 100 people, including friends and family gathered in Bill's local town of Santa Gertrudis, to unveil a bronze bust of Bill, originally sculpted by him during his lifetime.
The Mayor gave a speech about Bill and his life and then two of his daughters, Pepita and Mischa gave thanks and read out a poem. The bronze was then formally unveiled by his three daughters Mischa, Pepita and Jane, who were joined by Marcus, his son. Everyone then enjoyed drinks and aperitifs in the sunshine whilst listening to a recording of Bill playing the banjo in the School band when he was 15 years old. With grateful thanks to Mischa Fulljames for providing this story and photograph.
