We were delighted to hear that in June this year, Old Suttonian Bryan Boese (1977 CO) was awarded the very distinguished Coronation Medal. This honour was given to Bryan in recognition of his significant contribution to the Coronation of Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort on 6th May 2023.
Bryan, a senior lawyer in the Government Legal Department, was instrumental in orchestrating the legal framework behind the historic event, ensuring every detail was meticulously planned and executed. He and his colleagues worked for months, providing essential legal advice on everything from licensing agreements and the occupation of land in the Royal Parks to the broadcasting rights that allowed millions to witness the event live.
In addition to Bryan's role in the Government Legal Department, we are hugely grateful that he found time last term to spend the day with a group of SVS students and staff, showing them his offices and The Royal Courts of Justice (including watching part of a live hearing), as well as facilitating a question and answer session with some junior lawyers, all of which gave our students a great insight into the legal world.
