Our congratulations go to Desmond High (1973 F), who has been awarded a Lifetime Achiever Award at the Grassroots Cricket Awards. A long time stalwart of Old Suttonian Cricket, Des is now in his 20th year of leading the junior section of Linton Park Cricket Club, providing a regular pathway for youngsters into the club’s adult teams. Over the course of his tenure with Linton, he has seen a number of successes, not least in contributing to their Under 13s progress to the national stages of the ECB Under 13s Cup.
The Grassroots Cricket Awards take place in every county across England and Wales, culminating in a national ceremony. Each year, Kent Cricket seek nominations from clubs, leagues and affiliated teams from across the county, before a panel then meet to score each nomination in order to identify a ‘county winner’. Given the time, energy and effort that Des has put into OS Cricket over the years, we are delighted that his service to the sport in general, through Linton Park, has been recognised with this award.
