Last Friday, Old Suttonians, staff and the wider School community came together for the fifth annual Old Suttonians’ Golf Day. For the second consecutive year, it was hosted at The Ridge Golf Club in East Sutton, which is owned by Old Suttonian, Sophie Skinner (2003 H). As ever, the day featured both an individual and team competition, along with a Nearest the Pin contest. Compared to last year’s competition, which was bathed in early-summer sunshine, this year’s event was set to a rather gloomier forecast, though thankfully the rain that threatened never materialised.

After a competitive round, the eventual winners were the Headmaster’s team. Retaining the David Pickard Trophy for a second year running, the team, consisting of the Headmaster, Major Prem Ale and governors Eric Watts and David Page managed a Stableford average of 32.5 for the round. Major Prem also emerged victorious in the individual competition, with former member of staff, Roy Webster taking home the Nearest the Pin prize.

The day was rounded-off with a two-course meal, which allowed the various groups from the School community to come together and catch-up. Many thanks to all of those who attended, as well as The Ridge Golf Club for its hospitality on the day. We look forward to the next golfing fixture in the calendar, the Headmaster’s Golf Day, which is due to take place on 20th September at Chart Hills Golf Club.
