In addition to the fantastic Rugby result last weekend, we were also delighted to welcome Old Suttonian Netball players back to the School for a match against the 1st VII. The annual fixture sees the two teams compete for the Worsfold Cup.
Having lost out to the 1st VII last year, the OS were keen to regain their crown and brought a strong team, with players ranging from 2012 to 2018 leavers. The game was as competitive as ever with the score tied at 22-22 at half time. The OS began to find their passing range in the third quarter though and finished with an impressive 48-36 victory.
As part of the presentation, the 1st VII Captain, Ella Carter (Upper Sixth) was magnanimous in defeat and thanked the Old Suttonians for coming back to School to play. We were delighted to have Naomi Worsfold (SVPS Staff 1983-2010), who had originally donated the cup in 1995, on hand to present the trophy to the OS Captain, Lydia Davies (2015 H). It proved all the more meaningful as she had taught Lydia, along with three other members of the OS team whilst they were at SVPS in the mid-2000s.
Our thanks go to everyone who came along to watch the game, but especially to the OS team - Emelia Bonny (2018 H), Aimee Burnham (2011 H), Charlotte Crouch (2014 L), Hannah Davies (2015 H), Lydia Davies (2015 H), Emily Finch (2017 L) and Elena Sagrott (2013 F).
