Council Role
The Council determines the strategic direction for the School's wider community, incorporating Old Suttonians, parents, past-parents and staff. With representation from the Friends of SVS Committee and the Old Suttonians' Committee, the Council guides the respective groups on their individual programmes of engagement, as well as the opportunity for combined engagement. In doing so, its aim is to promote both the School and the Foundation's respective community interests, allowing each to flourish individually as well as collectively.
Council Membership
The SVS Foundation Council is formed of ten members; two are ex-officio members from the School, four are appointed members and four are nominated members representing the respective groups within the School's community. For reference, the current membership of the Council is listed above. The group includes Old Suttonian representatives, as well as representatives from the Friends of SVS (representing our parents and past-parents). In time, we hope to expand this to include the Sutton Valence Preparatory School Parents' Association and the parents of pupils at the HIKSVS International School.
Council Meetings
The Council meets once per academic term with meetings taking place at the School, unless stipulated otherwise. Extraordinary meetings of the Council, beyond these standard three meetings per year, can be called by the Headmaster or the SVS Foundation President, if deemed necessary. The agenda for Council meetings will be set by the Headmaster, SVS Director of Admissions and Development and SVS Foundation President and circulated by the SVS Foundation Secretary.
